March,19th. Few days from the release of much awaited movie Christian Brothers. I got a mixed review about this movie from my fellow Mohanlal Fans. Some said this movie is an Entertainer, few said please don't watch!!!. Some where suggesting that its a mix of 20-20, Pokiri Raja and some other movies like Aparanmar nagarathil and jegapoka .
As usual I ignored their comments and went for the movie along with my Wife and her cousin. They too are hardcore fans of Mohanlal. I should say, we laughed until we cried. You know what this was literally the funniest movie I have seen after a long time. Hats off to the script Writers. . You guys would have seen the English Movies like Scary Movie and Meet the Spartans(Paraody movie of 300) that make fun of other movies. Christian Brothers was also a similar one. They made a real fun of 20-20 and some other Malayalam movies. Mohanlal, Suresh GOPI (here after i will call him SASI) and others acted so realistically to achieve what the script writers and Directors asked for.
" They acted really great as their own dupes" - that was my wife's comment.
Launch or introduction of Mohanlal was exceptional. He was jumping, flying, firing and was doing whatever a super human can do. EXCEPTIONAL isn't it!!! Is that really required
Also, Introduction scene of SASI. We laughed our heads OFF!!
All the characters in the movies was extraordinarily co-related. I will explain to you some scenes that comes to my mind during the sleepless nights i had after watching this movie,
1. Mohanlal's Family: You know what they where living in an Era where there was no Mobile phones and Land line phones, Father wont ask his son what really happened neither his brother nor sister. None of them knew what others are doing in their family. A strange Big family.
2. SASI, I think he is diabetic now. Became very lean , Bald and looks like a 70 year old. He is marrying 20 year old sister of Mohanlal(Christi)
3.Siraj VenjaraMOODU, I'm not sure what was he trying to show in the movie. Dialogues are Hilarious.
4. I remember there was 3 songs in that movie First song of dileep and Kavya is OK, but the song of Lakshmi Rai and mohnalal. Is that really required.? I don't Think so. lakshmi Rai was showing just 2 steps in that whole song. It was a treat to watch. We are fed up off watching Lakshimi Rai and Lakshmi Gopalaswami in Mohanlal's movie.
5. Bullet Proof Bus from Chennai and Christi's escape sequence :-'Malappuram Kathi ennoke paranju Caption Raju vanna pole ulla oru scene..' u will cry after seeing those scenes. Avidem SASI sasi ayi.... Mohanlal's escape scenes including the Introduction scene of babu Antony was something special. Petta amma Sahikoola...
6. Vijayaraghavan and his Knife: He is carrying a knife he used to do something with that some 40 years back. If I'm right he used to cut vegetable in Kallu SHAP with that.
7. Love scenes of Kanihand SASI was extra ordinary- SASI was hiding inside her bedroom for catching police constables who try to rape her, I think he was there from morning. That's how a responsible police officer should be , right???
8. This is the second movie in Malayalam after Rajavinte makan in which Actor will kill few villains using the Pistol (around 12) and remaining dozen he killed by usual stunts.
9. The whole story starts with an issue with the ownership of a stupid piece of land in Munnar. I couldn't find enough sense to kill few people and to give 3 crore as bribe for that small piece of land.
10. Home minister and his character: He is the most funniest character in that movie..Must see to know why.
11. Dileep made a duplicate Passport from Italy and came back to India and he was hiding somewhere until his lovers marriage got fixed. She contacted him few days before the occasion she called him from Mohahlal's mobile(he don't have his brothers number stored in his mobile).
There are lot more. Everyone should watch this at least once.
I used to watch Mohanlal's movies in theatre to make that movie a Hit. But no more again unless i read and get to know something special about this movie.
'mazhakalathu mannira onu thadichu kozhuthu ennu vijarichitu , moorkan pampinte veetil vannu pennu alogikaruthu' - This was the only dialogue we felt of appreciating in the movie.
